I'm a sort of creative person, seeking the meaning of life . Hard to capture the essence of the mind/brain/soul - but I delight in arguing with ultra-materialists on consciousness. Ah! the smell of a rose and its redness, the smell of a fine wine, a sunset, - great stuff, and all subjective. Oh yeah and actually am Scorpio by 4 hours according to expert astrologer friend - blogger auto-star-sign system missed the fact that I'm on the cusp. Though I agree with Casius when he said "the fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings".

Voynich: A year on and May is once more warm after a long, long lonely Winter

Except this year we are having some of the hottest days on record for this month - today was a bit cooler at 28 C - fine cycling through forest with its soothing bird-song. Stayed late to listen to colleague Rene Zandgergen (we go way back) give a fine talk on the Voynich manuscipt - he's one of the leading authorities on this fascinating tome. The language has defied all attempts to crack it, even in the computer age - though the latter showed it had the same statistical characteristics as real languages, and so is no simple hoax. Also, the vellum would have cost a small farm in those days... Then there were nice refreshments and Rene answered questions etc. and it was then off to the forest with me, fortified by wine, as the midnight sun is essentially here now.
